things I want #2
Spring is on the horizon and so it seems is my journey into over expenditure. Come see what's on the wishlist...
Spring is coming. You know how I know? Because I suddenly have an interest in new things. I am largely covered for winter these days; I have my stalwart knit collection and don’t deviate far from it. I’ve also banned myself from any more heavy duty coats. However, Spring has some space for newness.
I am in the middle of sorting my dressing room out (read: the room with the fitted wardrobes in that I claimed, as the ones in our bedroom weren’t big enough) and have really enjoyed passing things on to friends, selling a few bits that just weren’t getting worn. This process produced some gaps, as detailed in my post last weekend…
So, the shopping search started. Here are a bunch of things I really like the look of. This is quite a long list because I coupled it with the quest for new rugs and new lights which are featured after my clothing wish list… Even then it wasn’t everything (you can find that here).
By the way, I know I said I was starting a new Instagram series in February and that remains true. I’ve just delayed it a little, as we had some unexpected stuff to sort out here at home. All is fine, my husband had to have a little operation which turned out to be marginally bigger than we thought. He’s fine, but it has meant postponing holiday plans - which isn’t really a bad thing as the dog is also recovering from her op. Anyway, I have reworked the “finding my style series” to start on the first day of the Year of the Horse - the 17th. Come join here!
I am feeling really excited about creating content which is a refreshing change. If I’m honest there have been a lot of moments that I’ve considered packing in Instagram altogether and just focussing on this. As much as it’s brought me some amazing friends, work and fun it’s also really heavy at the moment. So, let’s see if this kicks me into gear a bit… Right, back to shopping…
That’s it for clothing, now onto the house. I am half way through about ten projects in the house much to my husband’s despair. I’ve bought the bed I featured in last month’s round up and it’s brilliant, so just have to furnish the rest of the room it’s gone into. Then there’s another room I’ve half painted a shade of caramel, which needs finishing. Then decorating that. Then a load of floor work; carpets, improved wooden floors and rugs. Oh, and lighting. Here’s what my searches have unearthed…
And then we have some rugs. Rugs p*ss me off - there is so little available in the land of Middle Ground. Cheap rugs may look good for a bit but they never last, I have made this mistake. They fluff, pile and don’t wear well at all. Ruggable rugs are getting better but are quite obviously Ruggable - they do not pass as regular rugs, even the tufted versions. Then there is the other extreme, where a rug is almost a piece of art and therefore the price of a real David Shrigley. In which case, I’d rather buy the Shrigley. Here are the few I found that weren’t £10,000. They are hardly a bargain, but didn’t cause me to have an aneurism.
And that’s a wrap! These are just a few of my current favourites – you can browse my full edit of style and interiors picks on my ShopMy page here. Below are some other stacks you may enjoy too.

Great selections as ever! I really want to go and try on all the Frankie Shop blazers. Also - M&S have an incredible dupe for the chisel toe ankle boots. I bought them a couple of weeks ago and wearing them to death. Great with jeans, wide legs, barrels, everything, and buttery soft leather: https://www.marksandspencer.com/leather-chisel-toe-ankle-boots/p/clp60773156?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share
