The Thursday Ten #6
10 things I unequivocally require for my life to feel complete. Fashion, beauty and homeware.
My quest to clear out my wardrobe out is nearing its end, I feel like I am getting somewhere. Where it’s led me to, is the realisation that you really don’t need much, but that what you do have should be good. I’ve also realised I’m a bit more sentimental than I gave myself credit for; I’ve kept a suitcase under my bed for pieces that I can’t quite give up. The kind of stuff future children, or godchildren, or nieces etc may want… Aside from that, my wardrobe is looking happily sparse and ready for some new investments (using my Vinted winnings). Here are a few things that might make the cut to take up some space (and beauty wise, I’ve got a 20% off code for Cult Beauty, here).…
Alex Mill’s new collection is obscenely good, I don’t understand why they don’t get more airtime here in the UK. I struggled not to make this whole edit about them, check out the full collection here. And yes, the Alice Palmer mirror is expensive but sometimes you just have to invest in the real deal rather than wait for the Dun Elm copy, you know?
Ooh and the Varley cap. I think a fabric cap is going to be a useful item for a while to come. I bought a ME+EM one last year and I loved that it worked with Sunday athleisure and smarter outfits, even my pea coats and shirts on workdays. Great for keeping drizzly rain (ie: UK weather from now until April) off your hair and make up. Firmly recommend the Varley one, I tried it on in store last week.
I’d like to give a specific mention to this trench coat. It’s from British brand, Aligne which is fast becoming the cool UK brand to be seen in. It’s like our version of The Frankie Shop, but less ridiculous enormous for anyone under 5 foot 10. The trench coat is brilliant, I am obsessed with mine. It’s reversible, meaning it has the Aquascutum-like print as an option too (have a theory that vintage Daks and Aquascutum will become very sought after as the blue/brown check is everywhere). It’s just a trench, but the cut says that you know what you’re doing. If you want a plain one, they have one in the sale here for much less.
